 Garages
Garages are probably Saltire’s most popular non equestrian buildings and form the focal point of our price guide. We can make buildings higher, lower, wider or longer than those sizes shown on the price guide but it should cover most of the ranges available.
Garage Size
For general storage, ie. DIY junk, boats, woodstores etc, garages can be any size that suits!
To garage cars only, 4.8m (16’) long which will cover nearly every car
For cars plus other rear storage, ie. freezers or bicycles, we recommend 5.4m or 6.0m (18-20’) depth
For a single car a minimum width of 2.7 or 3.0m (9 or 10’) width is recommended
A double garage can be as little as 4.8m (16’) wide but 5.4m (18’) is ideal.
To maximise the aesthetic appeal there is a full range of options to vary the eaves height and pitch of the roof, or provide canopies to the side and or rear and front.
Garage Doors
Garages are made with 4 x 2 nom CLS and 19mm nominal weatherboarding for maximum possible strength. Framework is doubled by door openings and tripled for head rails at garage door openings.
Our standard buildings are made with a 2.4m (8’) eaves height and include paired frame ledge & braced doors to suit the openings with vertical weatherboard cladding which would enable just about any regular vehicle to enter the garage.
Door Options
Standard Up & Over doors in 2.1 – 4.2m (7-14’) widths and heights of up to 2.1m (7’) in a metal primer coat. We exclusively offer the excellent quality Hormann doors. A colour brochure is available on request
For higher entrances for 4x4 vehicles with roof racks, horseboxes or trailers we can raise the height of the building for extra height timber doors or openings for steel or GRP roller doors (to be fitted by a 3rd party) if timber would be too unwieldy.
(Both Hormann Up& Over doors and roller doors can be specified with electrical and remote operation facilities according to the manufacturer’s specifications where applicable).
As an alternative top hinged sliding doors can be specified – these maximise the opening spaces available and do not get caught in the wind. We use top quality steel tracks and rollers for long lasting operation.
